The Department of Civil & Construction Engineering, University of Nairobi, is pleased to congratulate Dr. Simpson Osano, Chairman of the Department, on his election as the Chairperson of the Kenya Geotechnical Society (KGS) for the 2026–2028 term.

The newly elected board was officially announced by the Kenya Geotechnical Society, bringing together distinguished professionals committed to advancing geotechnical engineering practice, research, and professional development in Kenya.

Researchers, engineers, innovators, policymakers, and postgraduate students are invited to participate in the 2nd African Journal of Engineering Research and Innovation (AJERI) Scientific Conference, scheduled to take place from 30th – 31st July 2026 at Kenyatta University, Nairobi, Kenya.

The Africa Research and Education Network for Technology (AFRETEC), in collaboration with the University of Nairobi and the C4DLab Innovation Lab, has officially launched a Call for Startups targeting innovators and entrepreneurs from all faculties within the University of Nairobi.

The Department of Civil & Construction Engineering, University of Nairobi, continues to expand its global academic partnerships following a courtesy visit by Prof. Thomas Mbuya Ochuku and Eng. Muthomi Munyua to leading French institutions, including Chimie ParisTech and CentraleSupélec.

The visit provided a platform for in-depth discussions on potential areas of collaboration in research, training, and academic exchange, particularly in the field of materials engineering and infrastructure durability.

On 25 March 2026, the Association of Civil Engineering Students – University of Nairobi (ACES-UON), in collaboration with the Department of Civil & Construction Engineering, successfully hosted a Special Mentorship Talk featuring Cecilio Fernando “CJ” Mills, an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of California, Berkeley and founder of Creative Adaptive Thinking.

The Organising Committee of the 80th RILEM Week and the 3rd ACCTA International Conference is pleased to announce that the deadline for abstract submission has been extended to 30 March 2026.

Roselyn Masoni recently attended the Climate Smart Forest Economy Program (CSFEP) Workshop held on Wednesday, 18 February 2026, at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Nairobi Upper Hill. The event convened a wide range of partners and stakeholders working to advance Kenya’s biobased construction sector, bringing together actors from across the value chain.

The Association of Civil Engineering Students – University of Nairobi (ACES-UON) has partnered with RoadsHub to deliver the highly anticipated Global Campus Bootcamp 2.0 — now bigger, better, and fully virtual this March 2026.

This dynamic training programme is designed to bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world engineering practice by equipping students with practical, industry-relevant skills.

Preparations for the 80th RILEM Week are gaining momentum, with the Organising Committee scheduled to meet on 24 February 2026 to advance planning discussions. The prestigious international event will take place from 5–12 September 2026.

On Friday, 20 February 2026, the Department of Civil & Construction Engineering hosted a highly engaging industry expert presentation delivered by Mr. James Ciira, Products and Specifications Manager at SIKA Ltd. The seminar was facilitated by Dr. Eng. Paul Kioko and attracted strong participation from both students and staff.
