EC2024: Call for Papers

We are happy to announce the 6th International Engineering Conference 2024 hosted by the Faculty of Engineering in the University of Nairobi (UoN) under the following theme:

 

THEME: Harnessing Research in Engineering for Resilience and Sustainability.

Conference dates: 28th October – 1st November 2024 Conference Purpose

The Engineering Conference 2024 provides an international forum for reporting progress and recent developments in research activities in the universities and industries. EC2024 aims to achieve the following

  1. Propel research output towards promoting community resilience and in various sectors of the economy.
  2. Bring together researchers, innovators, industry, entrepreneurs and students both local and international in the fields of Engineering to share knowledge and experiences on topics that are timely and reflect the latest scientific advances in the areas covering the following sub-themes:

Conference Sub-themes

  1. Harnessing Engineering Research for sustainability in Biological Production Systems including: Agricultural food processing and structures, value addition, Irrigation, water resources and environmental management and control, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Energy systems.
  1. Harnessing Research in Geospatial Engineering and Space Technology including: Cadastral Systems and Land Management, Land Cover and Land Use Change, Agriculture and Food Security, Blue Economy and Biodiversity Conservation, Innovations and Data.
  1. Harnessing Research in Civil Engineering for enhancement of cutting-edge technologies.
  1. Harnessing Research in Mechanical, Manufacturing and Mechatronic Engineering for industrialization and sustainable development systems including: Recycling and repurposing of Materials, Alloys Development and Optimization, Materials modelling, Machine structures & Optimization, and Structural analysis, Automotive structure Modelling, Robotics and Intelligence, Emerging Manufacturing technologies, Modelling and Simulation of Renewable Energy Systems, Pollution and Combustion, Energy Conversion Systems, Flow Processes Optimization, Solar Thermal Systems, Heat Exchangers, Mining Processes and Equipment Optimization.
  2. Harnessing Research in Electrical, Electronic and Information Engineering and Nuclear Science.

Paper Registration Competition

To encourage more UoN students and researchers to present their valuable research results in EC2024, the committee will endeavor to sponsor the first 20 papers that will be submitted and accepted through eng_conf@uonbi.ac.ke

  • Review of abstracts: 1st July – 10th July 2024
  • Notification of Abstract acceptance: 2nd July – 13th July 2024
  • Full paper submission: 3rd July– 31st August 2024
  • Paper acceptance notification deadline: 31st August 2024
  • Registration for presenters: 1st September – 13th October 2024
  • Papers ready for publication deadline: 18th October, 2024

Author Guidelines

Paper Submission Guidelines

Paper Title……………….. Author(s), Affiliation, email address

The paper needs to be structured as follows:

  • Introduction: this section should have 1-2 sentences that introduces the subject matter being addressed in the paper
  • Research Problem/Purpose: State the purpose of the study or paper to be submitted containing 1-2 sentences.
  • Rationale: this section should contain 1-3 sentences that clearly indicate the issue of interest/scientific question of the study and its importance, theoretical, conceptual, policy and institutional frameworks points can also be declared here.
  • Methodology/Methods/Research Approach: this section should contain sufficient information to be able to understand the research design, sampling design the analytical techniques and the statistical techniques applied/used in the study.
  • Results/Findings and Originality: this section should address key/main finding supported by empirical/objective data to answer the scientific question(s).
  • Conclusions or recommendations: this section should provide only conclusions of the study directly supported by the results. The recommendations should also be drawn

from the conclusions, avoiding speculation and over generalization.

  • Reference List Other Guidelines:
  1. The paper should be in English Language
  2. The paper should not exceed SIX (6) pages including abstract title and authors details
