Prof. Eng. Silvester Abuodha appointed a member of the Engineers Board of Kenya.
Prof.Abuodha is a lecturer at the Department of Civil & Construction Engineering and is a consulting engineer with the Engineers Board of Kenya and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya. The appointment was made through a gazette notice.
The children’s home visit that took place at Kasarani on the 24th of July 2022 was a great success. The children were aged three to seventeen years old. Students from the University of Nairobi led by Darren Hart made the day a success through the activities they carried out. They supported the children by bringing them food, clothes, shoes, books and some detergents. The event kicked off at 9:00am where some members fellowshipped with the children in their Sunday Service.
The University has announced scholarships targeting those who have graduated. Please find attached the details of application.

There was a Community Clean-up, Tree Planting and Mental Health Talk for World Environment Day held on 4th June 2022 along Kitengela Road and Ngei Primary School in Langata to Mark the World Environment Day. University students participated in the event.

To mark the ultimate culmination of five years of hard work, patience and grit, the Civil Engineering finalist class of 2022 organised a dinner to celebrate these milestones.
The dinner was sponsored by
Dr. Simeon Dulo a Senior lecture at the department passed on while attending a climate change conference in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. He felt unwell and was diagnosed with Malaria a day before his passing on. A lot of condolence messages have been sent to the family and also to the Department. Among those who have sent the message includes. Vice Chancellor UON Prof. S. G. Kiama, Christian Borgemeister, Director, Centre for Development Research University of Bonn Germany and Prof. Ayub Gitau, Dean school of Engineering UON.
The department held its open day presentation. The presentation shows critical details about the department.

Darren Hart a Civil Engineering Student was among a team of University of Nairobi students who visited the Zion Children's Home - Kasarani on Sunday 1st May 2022. The Children's home has about 70 Children, and they live inside a church after being evacuated from where they were living.
The students donated toiletries and foodstuff and had a lot of exciting activities with the staff and children at the Home.
Eng. Jane Mutulili held a mentorship session with engineering students. Kenneth Sawe and Beatrice Ndaisi from the Alumni Affairs Office organised the mentorship talk with the students from the Faculty of Engineering. Jeff Anduvate, an alumnus of the university and a former chairperson of the Engineering Students Association (ESA) moderated the session.
