Charles Odira attends a Short Course in IHE Delft

 

Mr. Charles Odira Maxwell, a dedicated Tutorial Fellow at the Department of Civil & Construction Engineering, recently had the opportunity to enhance his professional skills by attending a prestigious short course on Water Infrastructure Asset Management. The course was conducted at the esteemed IHE Delft Institute for Water Education in The Netherlands from 1st to 12th May 2023. We are proud to share his remarkable achievement and the valuable experience he gained during this enriching educational endeavor.

Prof. Mumenya makes a Presentation at the Nairobi Innovation Week

0n 17th May 2023, renowned academic and innovator, Prof. Siphila Mumenya, a distinguished professor in the Department of Civil & Construction Engineering at the University of Nairobi, recently made a captivating presentation at the Nairobi Innovation Week. The presentation focused on her groundbreaking work in the field of innovation and highlighted the design and fabrication of a household gasifier, a project that has gained significant attention for its potential to revolutionize household energy consumption.

Rescheduling of Friday 21st April 2023 CATS

 

We hope this message finds you well. We would like to inform you that the CATS (Continuous Assessment Tests) planned for Friday 21st April 2023, have been rescheduled due to the upcoming festival of Eid-ul-Fitr.

As you may know, Eid-ul-Fitr is an important religious holiday celebrated worldwide, and it is an anxious period for the Muslim faithful. We understand the significance of this festival and its importance to our Muslim students.

Important Notice: Temporary Challenge with Turnitin Similarity Index Checker

 

The Department of Civil & Construction Engineering would like to inform all staff and students that we are currently experiencing challenges using the Turnitin Similarity Index checker. This similarity index checker is a tool we use to ensure academic integrity by checking for plagiarism in written assignments.

We are aware of the importance of Turnitin to maintain the quality of academic work and the credibility of our institution. Therefore, we are working hard to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

Three Academic Staff promoted to Professors

The Department of Civil & Construction Engineering at the University of Nairobi has recently announced the promotion of three senior lecturers to Associate Professors. The promotions were a result of successful interviews held on Friday 31st March 2023, and reflect the high standards and commitment to excellence of the department. The three new professors received communication of their appointment on Friday 28th April 2023. 

Jomo Kenyatta High School Students visit the Department of Civil & Construction Engineering, University of Nairobi

On 24th March 2023, a group of students from Jomo Kenyatta High School had the opportunity to visit the Department of Civil & Construction Engineering at the University of Nairobi. The visit was aimed at exposing the students to the world of engineering and encouraging them to pursue careers in this field. The highlight of the visit was a tour of the Fluid Mechanics laboratory, which was conducted by Mr. Stephen Ochieng.

Geothermal Development Corporation (GDC) offers Mentorship to Engineering Students

 

Geothermal Development Corporation (GDC) held a mentorship session with engineering students from the University of Nairobi on Wednesday, 15th March 2023. The event was held at the University of Nairobi Tower, and it was aimed at providing guidance and mentorship to the students as they pursue their studies and careers.
