On Thursday, 24th February 2022, the Department of Civil & Construction Engineering reached 50 ongoing research projects at the postgraduate level. The research projects range from Structural, Material, Water Resources, Environmental, Public Health, Soils and Highways Engineering. The research projects are supervised by staff of the Department. 

The Association of Civil Engineerings Students made three proposal on their future activities. The Chairperson, Quincy Wamono made three proposals: 

1. A Computer Aided Drawing and Design Training. 
2. Mentorship of ACES students by alumni. 
3. Corporate Social Responsibility by assisting construction in schools around the University. 

He was flanked by Nimrod and Makena, officials of ACES during the presentation. 

The department has received 40 bags from Bamburi Cement Ltd. Bamburi Cement has provided 25 bags of 32.5 cement and 15 bags of 42.5 cement to assist students in their research projects. Eng. Collie Goro, a lecturer of the department facilitated the donation and delivery of the bags of cement at the Large Structures Laboratory. 

The current and past four chairmen of the department met on 4th February 2022 during the Civil Engineering Welfare.

The second semester will begin on Monday, 7th February 2022. Blended learning will continue, however, staff and students have been encouraged to conduct physical classes where practical while observing the Ministry of Health Covid-19 Guidelines. 

The University held its inaugural Talents Day as a creativity contest where both staff and students were given a chance to demonstrate their unique skills and talents. The activity was also meant to shift students' minds from academia as they are supported to express and grow in their chosen talents. 

The Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP) in collaboration with the Association of Civil Engineering Students held a lecture for fifth-year civil engineering students on 30th November 2021 at LT 401, UoN Tower.  

Darren Hart, a civil engineering student from the Department of Civil & Construction Engineering received  commendation from the Dean of Students of the University of Nairobi for organising the first mental health day at the University of Nairobi. The event had 510 attendees.
