Muthomi Munyua appointed a trainer of engineers on the Structural Eurocodes

Mr. Muthomi Munyua, a lecturer at the department of Civil & Construction Engineering was appointed a trainer of engineers on the structural eurocodes. Mr. Muthomi led the training on Eurocode 0, Eurocode 1 and Eurocode 7. Muthomi would be assisted by Mr. Maati Ondari from Kenyatta University and Dr. Eng. Joseph Thuo of the Dedan Kimathi University of Technology. 

The training was held in Naivasha at the Lake Naivasha Resort and Sawela Resort along Moi South Lake Road in Naivasha, Nakuru County. 

Prof. Gichaga and Prof. Abuodha appointed to the taskforce to review of the Road Design Manuals and Standard Specification for Road and Bridge Construction

Two lecturers from the department of Civil & Construction Engineering, Prof. Gichaga and Prof. Abuodha appointed to the taskforce to review of the Road Design Manuals and Standard Specification for Road and Bridge Construction. Prof. Gichaga has vast knowledge in Roads Engineering while Prof. Abuodha is a practising structural engineer.

Nancy Waweru reappointed to the Governing Council of the Kenya Water Institute

Nancy Waweru, a lecturer at the Department of Civil & Construction Engineering was reappointed to the governing council of the Kenya Water Institute. The appointment comes from the acting Cabinet Secretary for Water, Sanitation & Irrigation, James Macharia. 

The appointment was gazetted in the Kenya Gazette as Notice No. 8022 of 5th July 2022. 

The department congratulates Nancy Waweru on her appointment and wishes her the best in the new role. 

Prof. Eng. Silvester Abuodha is appointed a member of the Engineers Board of Kenya

Prof. Eng. Silvester Abuodha appointed a member of the Engineers Board of Kenya. 

Prof.Abuodha is a lecturer at the Department of Civil & Construction Engineering and is a consulting engineer with the Engineers Board of Kenya and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya. The appointment was made through a gazette notice.

Civil Engineering Students revisit Zion Children's Home

The children’s home visit that took place at Kasarani on the 24th of July  2022 was a great success. The children were aged three to seventeen  years old. Students from the University of Nairobi led by Darren Hart made the day a success through the activities they carried out. They supported the children by bringing them food, clothes, shoes, books and some detergents. The event kicked off at 9:00am where some members fellowshipped with the children in their Sunday Service.

Community Clean-up, Tree Planting and Mental Health Talk for World Environment Day

There was a Community Clean-up, Tree Planting and Mental Health Talk for World Environment Day held on 4th June 2022 along Kitengela Road and Ngei Primary School in Langata to Mark the World Environment Day. University students participated in the event.
