STABILIZATION OF CLAY CHIPPINGS WITH WASTE STEEL CHIPPINGS AND RICE HUSK ASH TO BE USED AS A SUB BASE MATERIAL IN ROAD CONSTRUCTION

Over the period of time cement and lime have been the main materials used in chemical stabilization of soils. This has led to the depletion and increase in cost of these two materials and thus it has become a necessity to find other materials which can be used in place of them. In the production of cement there has been a considerable production of carbon dioxide and also dust which lead to environmental pollution, Sear (2005). Therefore it is required to minimize usage of cement in order to also check the environmental pollution.

PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL OF SIMPLY SUPPORTED SOLID SLAB AND BOX SLAB

The rising need for safe and affordable accommodation has resulted in the design and construction of structures (floor slabs) that are quite heavy, more reinforcements and therefore expensive. This therefore calls for the need to redesign and introduce a mechanism that can reduce the overall cost of floor slab construction; that reduce costs related to heavy members while striving to meet the population’s demand for cheap housing.
