Performance Evaluation of Langata Road Capacity And Level of Service Study

Kenya is categorized as a water scarce country with renewable per capita freshwater below the UN recommended minimum of 1000m³. The growing population increases the demand of water for domestic use, food security and industrial development. In addition, surface and ground water resources in Kenya are increasingly becoming polluted (KEWI, 2021). There is therefore need to conserve the available water from further pollution.

Performance Evaluation of Langata Road Capacity And Level of Service Study

Langata road runs across densely populated areas such as Langata. It also serves residents of Ngong and especially Rongai as it is the main route used to access the Central Business District which serves as the main economic hub of the city; hence has a large number of traffic users. This leads to traffic congestion on the road hence a reduction in its performance. The Kenyan list states “Langata Road and traffic jams are synonymous.” We will investigate to see if the road has surpassed its design capacity according to the Highway Capacity Manual (2016).
