From the foregoing, it is clear that a structural engineer has her work cut out for her, beginning at the inception and throughout the lifetime of the structure. For best results, the engineer needs to have fit and proper equipment with which to work. Additionally, they need to employ fit and proper strategies, tactics, techniques, and procedures in carrying out their work of producing (i.e. designing, manufacturing,) operating, maintaining and disposing of the structure. By restricting ourselves to the operation and maintenance of structures, we are left to wonder what this equipment is, and what are these strategies, tactics, techniques, and procedures. Such questions can be answered through conducting research.
