Negligence of contractors on diversion and pollution of our rivers during construction of bridges degrades our rivers both quality wise and flow wise. Our natural ecosystems should be handled with care and left unaltered or minimize the alterations where need is required especially rivers. This is because the river is a home to several species and residents of the area depend on the water for domestic use and irrigation of their crops (maize and kales). Use of polluted water can cause diseases in both the crops and human beings. It also affects economic activities in the area like fishing because now the fish cannot survive in the polluted water. When the flow of the river is altered the residents downstream suffer the most. This study is aimed at assessing the magnitude of the construction of the small concrete wall that prevents flow of water during the
dry season and finding solutions to correct the situation. The recommendations provided will really help the residents of the area especially the farmers who have been affected the most by this circumstance.
