Tap water is one of the many sources of water for domestic use all around the world. Its quality is of great importance due its regular use in day-to-day activities. Therefore, recommended standards should be upheld. The main source of water in Donholm is tap water provided by NWSC. This research investigates the quality of tap water used and compares it to the recommended standards.
Samples and photos were taken from seven estates namely: Jacaranda, Greenspan, Greenfields, Savannah, Miami, Oyster and local vendor. Face to face, interviews were also issued to 35 members
Analysis of results was done based on the limits of WHO and KS guidelines. Out of all the tests carried out on the samples, most of the results resided in the guidelines apart from fluorine levels. Most of the samples had a higher value than the set standard by WHO (1.5 mg/l).
I can conclude therefore that fluorine levels are of concern in the water consumed but there is still need for continuous evaluation and monitoring. Involvement of WASREB together with NWSC can offer solutions to this problem.
