The construction industry is dynamic due the advancement in technology, budget constraint and development process. Plastic pollution poses a challenge to the ever-growing population since it was produced in high quantities.

In Kenya, dumping is a major challenge. The Dandora dumping site serving the whole Nairobi region was deemed full by 2001. This coupled with high land costs and uncontrolled dumping has affected the health and the social economic status of the people living in this areas. Researchers have attributed these areas to the increased high crime rate and health complications.

Housing had also provided a major issue. Informal settlements are on the rise. The Kenyan Government is on the forefront to provide affordable housing to the citizens through its lowcost housing projects. This is creating pressure on the need to cut cost of the construction materials.
