ABSTRACT
The population of Kenya is growing and increasing each year and substantial number of those population live within the suburbs of the capital city Nairobi, estimated over 6.5 million. Kenya has also established itself as the preferred real estate investment destination of sub-Saharan Africa and Nairobi acts as commercial hub and gateway to regional market. This indicated the increased demand for modern residential houses.
This project attempts to address this demand by proposing construction of an eight storey building at the basement. The proposed site is in Eastleigh, Nairobi.
Structural analysis and design of the building was carried out in accordance with the standard codes of practice such as Eurocodes. Calculations were done with the help of PROKON and Design Spreadsheets and Detailed Structural Drawings prepared using AutoCAD 2018 software.
