The Department of Civil & Construction Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Nairobi, invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for appointment as Part-Time Lecturers for the 2026/2027 Academic Year.

Applications are invited in the following areas of specialisation:

  • Water Engineering
  • Structural Engineering
  • Geotechnical Engineering
  • Highway Engineering
  • Construction Engineering and Management
  • Transportation Engineering
  • Environmental Engineering
  • Materials Engineering

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should:

  • Hold a PhD degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field from a university recognised by the University of Nairobi Senate; or
  • Be registered for a PhD programme in a relevant discipline.

Applicants holding a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, together with:

  • At least one (1) year of teaching experience at university level; and
  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience

may also be considered.

In addition, applicants must:

  • Be registered or registerable as Professional Engineers (PE) by the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK);
  • Be members of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK);
  • Demonstrate competence in teaching, research, and professional practice.

Duties and Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be expected to:

  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in their area of specialisation;
  • Supervise student projects and postgraduate research;
  • Participate in curriculum development and review activities;
  • Conduct research and scholarly activities;
  • Support departmental academic and professional engagements.

  4. Evidence of registration with EBK and membership of IEK;
