Functions and co-ordination of environmental sanitation programmes, beneficial and detrimental effects of water and sewage.  Collection, treatment and disposal practices.  Air: temperature, pressure, ventilation and air conditioning; noise; lighting;  electromagnetic and nuclear radiation; atmospheric pollution.  Housing: principles of hygienic housing, functional design requirements, economics, legislation and planning.  Food sanitation.  Diseases associated with poor environmental sanitation; Introduction to vector control and epidemiology including biostatistics.
